The sites on the map were identified from a variety of sources:
- in-depth interviews conducted in 2024 and 2025 with members of the Hungarian community in Montreal
- private collections and donations received from interviewees
- archival research in Hungary and Canada
- publications in the press (of special significance were the news in Magyar / Montreali Krónika)
- secondary sources (scholarly articles, books (among others those written by Nándor Dreisziger, Carmela Patrias, Christopher Adam), jubilee publications of the churches, Jenő Ruzsa's book on the history of Hungarians in Canada (1940))
- online news sources
In all cases, we strive to indicate these sources appropriately in each entry, and where possible provide additional information to help users access details, further documents, websites, interviews to facilitate additional research.
